FEDERATION VISIT TO THE EAST MIDLANDS

The visit is being organised by the Federation of Local History Societies and is open to all members of both Federations, North and South. This year our journey will take us to the East Midlands where we will stay in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nottingham. We are assured of something special with the natural and built heritage of this part of England equal to anywhere in the UK. We will make an interesting stop at the famous Wedgwood Museum at Stoke -on-Trent to have a break and visit the museum. We plan to visit two of the finest stately houses in the UK namely Chatsworth House and Burghley House and enjoy a scenic drive in the beautiful Peak District. The city of Leicester beckons with its impressive Cathedral wherein lies the remains of the remarkable King Richard III and also visit the new King Richard III Centre. We will explore the city of Nottingham and follow in the footsteps of Robin Hood and his merry men in Sherwood Forest. We will spend time in the historic and unique city of Lincoln with its massive Cathedral, impressive Castle, historic architecture and visit the town of Stamford with its beautiful stonework.

The package includes coach hire x 5 days, return ferry Dublin to Holyhead, 4 nights B&B with 4 evening meals in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nottingham. The overall cost includes all admission charges, guides, hotel tips etc. for the duration of the trip.
